After the end of Central of New Jersey operations in Pennsylvania, Lehigh Valley obtained the right to service CNJ's customers there. They wound up being short of power, so the Valley leased power from Bangor & Aroostook (GP7s), Pittsburg & Shawmut (SW9s) and picking up leased power CNJ had been using like N&W F7s. Most were borrowed on short term leases. Delivery of GP38-2s 314-325 ended the leases.

Thanks, cmdrflake! I see that the CNJ pulled out of Pennsylvania on March 31, 1972.
