Just a GG-1 chillin' in the forest, taking it easy. Poor thing needs TLC.

It's sad to see this classic, iconic, and unmistakable "face" of a GG1 sitting alone and abandoned with no one to care for it and take it out of the elements. I looked this area up on Google Maps and saw from the satellite image that there appear to be TWO GG1's in Cooperstown Junction - the other one is further up the track behind this one you photographed Nathan. I hope you photographed both of them as I think many of us would like to see them no matter what the condition they may be in. A GG1 is a GG1 and an impressive locomotive to see when you find one.

You did a great job of capturing a somber atmosphere.

Looking a Google Maps reveals a whole lot of trains and cars sitting around. There are a couple of F Units across the road labeled as NY Rt. 7. Interesting place. I wonder how all this hardware ended up here.

She sure looks lonesome out there.

Well it has moved! For years it has been on the siding on the CP main. Does anybody know why it has moved? Hopefully this is a good thing!

Here's a crazy idea. It's close to the Baseball Hall of Fame. They should buy it and restore it with some heavyweight passenger cars and have a display of how teams used to travel 60-70 years ago.

All equipment here is owned by the LRHS, operator of the Cooperstown & Charlotte Valley Railroad. You can donate at their website, www.lrhs.com.

This is one of two privately owned GG1s that were rusting on a spur on the CP (EX DAH) mainline . Then when NS bought the DAH, all private property had to be moved off the rails or it was NS property, so the ended up on the C&C.

This is no way for a GG-1 to end its career. The GG-1's were things of BEAUTY! They all deserve to be polished & shined & on display for all to see.

The GG-1 is my favorite retired locomotive of all time. Pity this one is sitting here abandoned and forgotten.
