A little research has revealed that this car, the former "Bunker Hill" was 1 of 2 Bar-Lounge Obs cars which the New Haven had built by Pullman 1949 to bring up the rear of their First-Class Only train, "The Merchants Limited" operating daily between Boston and New York (GCT). The other, sister car was named "Watch Hill." They did not remain in this service long and had the (ugly) diaphragms added to their rounded rear in order to operate as a mid-train lounge. Both cars ended their days as "Bar Cars" on New Haven - New York commuter trains. Watch Hill was last known to be off tracks in use as a lounge, attached to a restaurant in Cleveland / Berea Ohio. For a good photo of Bunker Hill in better days, see the New Haven listings in the on-line "Passenger Car Photo Index." It WOULD be GREAT IF Bunker Hill still exists "somewhere."

Gives me a kind of sad feeling.

Adding on to what Rich said, this car was numbered 4425 under PC, with the other being numbered 4424, but never receiving PC paint. The name "Bunker Hill" was also not present on the car under PC.
