Oh Mr. Danneman - I'm getting cold just looking at this photo...I hope you got warm and thawed out in the comfort of your vehicle heater after taking this oft' overlooked aspect of railroad operations. After all - how do the flange guides at crossings stay clear of ice build-up if it weren't for the unlucky few MofW employees who get sent out to perform the manual labor of preventing train derailments due to ice at a crossing? I feel sympathy for these men - although they are getting paid far better than I am.
