What a classic photo. As an L&N fan, it is great to spot "The Old Reliable" logo.

Wanna play a game? How many railroads are pictured? - Heres a cheat - CB&Q, C&S, C&NW, CRI&P, L&N, NYC, PRR. I count 7. Great Shot!

There are lots of really great photos here...this is one of my top faves. A real slice of "how it was" Thanks for this!

Matt, I THINK you can add that green boxcar way off on the left as T.P. & W. That makes EIGHT !

Ok, Matt, game on! Here are 4 more railroads in the photo. MoPac ("Route of the Eagles") -- box car at back right. Gulf, Mobile & Ohio -- faded box car to left of NYC box car. I am pretty sure the boxcar to its left is Milwaukee Road, and from the font the box car at the extreme right edge (barely visible) may also be MILW. And in the station in the background, D & RGW passenger cars. And you could cheat a little and add Fruit Growers' Express, so that makes 12 or 13 railroads, every one a fallen flag.

Why does the Fruit Growers Express reefer have "F.H.I.X. reporting marks? (I understand the 'X')

Jeff, I was told that with 4 letters, more options are available. Where CSX is only 3, the T is added to make CSXT or CSX Transportation. I hope my information to you is updated and fully correct. I love this old photo as much as most. I love the Fallen Flags.

I see SP and PRR and COG freight cars as well, not to mention a Milw. Rd. car.
