What rule says they have to be from the same manufacturer?

Of course there is no rule against mixing units from different manufacturers, BUT I have heard there are differences in how different makes of units respond differently to changes in throttle and brakes, which can make smooth operation difficult.

Even so my favorite had to be once on CP with an F7a, F7b and C-liner resulting in an A-B-'C' power lash-up.
