Why couldn't they have saved it for one of the Rail Museums? Don't just scrap it. Back at the first of the 20th Century, both Union Pacific & Southern Pacific (Central Pacific) scrapped both the original Steam 4-4-0 locomotives from Promentory Summit (Golden Spike) of May 10, 1869. CP Jupiter # 60 & UP # 119. Just a bit of foresight would have been incredibly significant.
