Perhaps the idiots in charge of Mer Rouge LA will now do something on their own to change this, instead of believing that they can over power the Federal Government like thousands of other towns think they can do. It's your town, fix it. PERIOD! 5 accidents within 2 years, 3 fatalities, and 1 derailed train with a luckily non fatal chemical leak. Wake up morons!!! Hope the injured crew members can retire with a full pension after this.

Great detail of the accident, Mr. Pearson. You are right - that is a chilling video. I don't know how train crews deal with this possibility on a daily basis.

I've seen the video of the crash, and the sound made by the train hitting the crane is very chilling. The train crew is very fortunate to survive a collision with a steel beam that heavy right at cab level. There was definitely someone looking out for them.

Tom, where is the HD video? The link takes us to the crappy backseat video some moron took, but is there another one out there that is actually HD?

Here's the video. It's scary! 9939 hits right on the crane's heavy counterweight. Thankfully the crew will survive. At least the big GE's cab was strong enough to have kept the crew alive. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AuH1Ogdx4cg&index=1&list=FLDbSgdfEWAKS2SirsTrOXxw

well I guess when this unit is repaired it will no longer wear the SP paint. (sadness) Wish the crew a quick and full recovery
