Beautiful and interesting photo Craig. Though I'm curious, how does this system work? I looked this location up on Google Maps, and from Satellite view taken in 2016 (according to the info. on the bottom of the screen view) and it appears these gates are still protecting this diamond on the UP line. I wonder when the UP will actually get around to replacing this. Perhaps you could take a weekend and "camp out" here and get a photo of a Union Pacific train actually crossing the CN line with the gates in operation? Just a suggestion. Still, a very beautiful photo of an interesting diamond traffic control system.
