Fantabulous!

Very nice capture!! Looks like BNSF publicity work. I was going to nominate for PCA just from the thumbnail...but the story was great, and synched my nomination even more!! Well done and well worth the effort it took to get.

What an adventure, and it sure pays to get up early, and in this case maybe a bit earlier. Very nice photo and worth the trouble, well at least for Travis.

Simply Superb. Nice caption also.

Winner, winner chicken dinner! Nice one Travis. PCA vote for sure

They should probably place a trail register atop this little hill. My last visit to the hill was a bit different- a portable chair and cold drinks with pleasant temperatures and oil rigs to gaze at between trains.

One of those shots that you'll remember for ever!

Simply beautiful. Great composition and effort to get the shot you wanted. PCA vote here.

Had it been intermodal instead of dirty energy, this would be on the BNSF homepage. Well done.

It is rewarding when everything comes together. Nice effort for a great shot.

That's stunning, Travis....simply stunning.

I agree with all the comments before me. Exceptional! Oh, the one thing that could make you feel more at home would be a couple of hunters down in the valley wearing blaze orange :-)

Travis, the other comments echo my thoughts... this image doesn't suck. Well done and PCA from me too!

Thank you everyone. It is weird looking back on this photo knowing that I almost went to a different spot to shoot the oncoming train as I didn't think I had the time to even climb the hill and that was before I knew how slick and muddy it was. Very glad I went for this angle.

Fabulous, well worth the effort it took!

Good photo with great story or a wild adventure behind it - those are the best.

There's not much to add, except that this is what real railfanning is all about.......creating a magic image and memories that will last forever. The remote location is the cherry on top - love it!

Shoulda hit the trifecta on this one.

Should also get an RPN narrative award, if such exists.

Good shot.

Perfect location and timing equals a stunning photo with some help from the elements. The extra challenge to get there makes it one of those truly special shots with a fitting story. Great job!
