Question: Will #6 push her consist up the hill as #5 is, and if so, are there any set procedures in regards to which way the engines face noting that #6 is pulling forward while it appears #5 must have been pulling in reverse.

To answer your question Mitch, Casses locomotives usually start their trip pushing with the smokebox against the consist until the first switchback. Then they pull for a short stretch, and then after they second switchback the shove for the remainder of their trip to Bald Knob. The way #5 is the common practice, as the Big Six is has been spun in preparation for the Great West Virginia Train Race. In my times visiting Cass it is very rare to see their steamers facing in the direction # 6 is in this picture.
