Wow. Until I read the description, I thought the guy on the motorcycle was seconds away from becoming a statistic. Nice Pic.

That's pretty neat to see a couple C40-8s on the local. Good catch Steve.

I agree with an above post, I thought this was a photo of someone tempting fate dangerously until you read the information that the train is moving in reverse. Several things jump out of this photo too. First: The pairing of the C40-8's on this local! Second) That classic bike. Third) The rider just casually exuding his "coolness" while holding that cigarette in his mouth. And the fourth thing that jumps out of this photo are the semaphore blades still attached to that classic searchlight signal. A combination of old style meets "newer" old style signals as both are now relics in this century.

Locomotives appear freshly painted or just washed. They are a beautiful sight. Great shot, Steve.

Good to see them somewhere else other than sitting at the yard in Clinton

One major question though - now late..when was this photo taken Steve? The "Location/Date of Photo" says June 29, 2014 - but in the "Remarks & Notes" you have it as Sunday, August 24, 2014. What's with the two different dates? Just curious - and under "Community Response" it says "Since added on August 25, 2014" too. So I take it this was Sunday, Aug. 24th and NOT June 29th?

Dana M., the blades and signal combination were the C&IM's version of a distant signal, or as they called it, a "non-operative approach" signal.
