And here in Nevada, a Candidate was running for Governor years ago, and ran on a platform that stated that he would not allow the nations railroads to BEGIN hauling nuclear waste through Nevada or anywhere else. (This was back in the days of the Yucca Mountain Disposal site debate.) Myself and a couple of other local railfans showed him our pictures of 1990's DODX cars hauling waste and educated him that the nation has been hauling nuclear waste safely for decades (Even back then and through Las Vegas!) in appropriate cars dedicated for that specific service. Back then they were multiple trucked depressed center flat cars with the castes permanently mounted on them. I tried to show a pic but alas, it was rejected by the powers that be.
