I thought I'd seen every kind of bridge. Surely that was supposed to have been a temporary thing. Some bridge engineer had to walk away from that with a clear conscience. Maybe he knew something we don't. I mean, I get that the superstructure is not supporting the weight of the locomotive. It only balances the beams when it swings. It's just that the whole thing looks jury-rigged, ready to collapse. That's just amazing.

These bridges were quite common in southern New Jersey where the marshlands meet either the Delaware River/Bay or Atlantic Ocean. This was the last survivor.
