I haven't traditionally been a big fan of GE's or the NS Crescent cab as it sits on the SD60E's. But this one is kinda growing on me; can't wait to see it repainted.

What did they have before Electronic Fuel Injection. a Carburetor? Has a railroad rebuilt this many units before instead of buying new power? Seems like an interesting trend.

All these new NS units with Crescent Cabs are a face only a mother could love. YUCK!

The engines were fuel-injected before, but it was a unit injector with a mechanical pump driven by a camshaft. The unit injector doesn't give as much control over its operation.

it's not the prettiest thing, but it's better looking than the CNW Crandall cabs!

I am curious about the cooling. On this there doesn't appear to be enough space used to include split cooling. Are the units in Altoona for further work? As long as this thing to to get out of Roanoke, at least it's a step forward.

They were back in Roanoke as 12/23/14, with 8502 and 8101 around the turntable.
