Wow, Dave - if I didn't know this to be a true story, I'd have guessed it was just a dog and pony show to get a dog on RP. Great shot and I'm glad your besty survived her ordeal and is with you today to keep you company while railfanning.

Nice photo, David and an even nicer comment about Minnie.

She looks just like my dog, a lab beagle mix, from behind. Nice photo!

Every picture tells a story and this is a great pic with a great story! Nice one David. BTW there is a railway station in South Africa named Dryden (with pics on RP).

Wow can't imagine what you went through. A heart felt story of a man and his best friend.

What a great picture & story. Quite some years ago I took our dog Cassie on a steam chase because there was no one at home else. Had to take care of her heart disease though. Left at 4 am in heavy snow fall, gave her excercise and medicine around 6 am. Having my dog in the line-up of photographers was quite an experience. She never saw or heard a steam engine... Totally excited she took relief right before us but she did pretty good otherwise, only broke loose once on a pedestrian bridge with the train thundering away below us. She had a few more years but no more train chasing. Dog's Choice Awards from me.

My second comment on this photo: I'm a big dog person also. It does my heart good to read these comments on the importance and meaning of dogs. My rescue came from Texas to central Illinois and had cheated death 3 times. No need for details. Just to say being a dog lover/fancier is a wonderful thing and I really think these comments are a treasure.

It is not just a dog, but a friend and loyal family member. Can't imagine what life or this world would be like without them.
