The fact that this work is being carried out INSIDE the shop rather than outside would make be believe it is CONSTRUCTIVE ( at least, in the long term) rather than destructive.

Might be getting a new cab cause I think they send them over to Cresson to get them scrapped out.

This unit is being rebuilt as a Slug master to be mated to a RP-M4C road slug. The cab is being changed to a Admiral cab and the 16 cylinder 645 is being replaced with a 12 cylinder 710 Tier 3 engine. EM2000 microprocessor installed, including all new electrical cabinet and the long hood will have the addition of a flared radiator similar to phase 2 SD70M

The GP59's are becoming the slug masters, and only the first few with nonstandard cabs recieved Admiral Cabs, the rest are keeping their cabs and are now classed as GP59E's. The GP50's are being rebuilt as RP-M4C road slugs to work with the GP59E's, or as GP33ECO's which is what this unit is destined for. It is the future NS 4716.
