It's a thing of beauty compared to the Colorado DMU...at least.

It will be great to see these running in Toronto, Canada for the Union Pearson Express (Toronto Union Station to Pearson International Airport).

A tidy looking little critter, but capacity seems quite low... are they going to splice a non powered coach or two in the middle? Where are these things going to be used?

Nice juxtaposition and catch of interesting equipment. Aesthetically, it is rather conservative looking and I hope it works out for METRA. The only thing that bothers me is it is not American made.

These DMUs are usually in a married pair. Only have rode on SPRINTER in California, three married pairs are coupled together and require a raised platform to load or unload. SPRINTER is only 22 miles long, with 15 station stops. For high capacity loads, these are not for the likes of Chicago. For cities not wanting to put in electric trolley, these units are great for short, frequent service.

A total of 18 DMU's were ordered from Nippon Sharyo comprising four 3-car sets and three 2-car sets. Testing is well under way and the scheduled grand opening date is June 6.
