It's possible that a fuel truck driver tried to fill the tank not knowing any better.

Were they able to transfer fuel to the master unit?

They were also "Fuel Tenders" at first but the plague of problems in the pumping system to the Master unit soon saw them to their Slug Duty only. If you are ever close enough to them you will see a plugged pipe on the long hood pilots on the slugs and the masters that tried to supply fuel.

Now THAT is a "Stealth" unit. Ugh!
