I guess on their maiden revenue run the Traction Motors fried ! Not a good start for the C855

Only EMD had any real success with twin engine units the UP wanted. The Centuries here suffered from generator flashovers caused by excessive current draw and issues with insulation of aluminum wiring and bus bar connectors. In short, they had bugs galore. Their prime movers, were successful in that they were in production well into the '70's.
