Does anyone know what the silver box above the headlight with the Frisco logo on it if for? Very nice shot of a beautiful loco.

The box is where the bell is (or was). Seems like they ought to remove the bell for safekeeping, or maybe have a fake bell made up.

I wondered the same thing myself, researched and no answer. Upon my inspection of it, lookes like a box built around the bell as a sort of 'safe' to keep it from disappearing.
