What a lashup! (and the Rainbow-era Amtrak train is a neat catch, too) This is just west of Milepost 511 in Cheyenne. The track in the foreground is the line south to Speer and Denver. The line the subject train is on is #3 track the easier-grade (.8%) route to Sherman Hill. The tracks int he background with Amtrak are #1 and 2 tracks, the original 1.5% grade alignment to the summit of Sherman Hill. The 3 tracks converge at Dale Junction, WY west of the summit.
