Great view and perspective, Peyton ... nicely done.

Hello Everybody, Can you help me by explaining why I see so few people milling around in all the photographs of this event. All the photographs seem to show quite pleasant weather so that should not deter the crowds. In this one here, the crowd numbers must be struggling to get in the tens. Seems strange for such a fabulous looking event.

Great shot - and it is under it's own power; not "helped along" with diesels Thanks

Andrew, the museum grounds are very large and (as you can see around rp.net) there were loco parades, exhibits, and photo opps all around, so the handful of people you see milling around by the roundhouse are only a small part of the crowd. (Though to be honest, too many of us like gawking at the pictures from our desks instead of getting out and supporting the museums that make these things happen!)

Rick, 611 is not yet under its own power. It was moved from Roanoke to Spencer last Sunday where restoration will take place in order for it to be returned to excursion service sometime in 2015.

This was after 6pm so it's into the 10th hour of the day meaning everyone was looking for food after being elbow to elbow all day in the sun. A couple of hours earlier you would have seen what would have looked like ants on a sugar pile.

The helicopter pilot wasn't willing to hang up there a bit longer to let that cloud pass, eh? ;-)

I see a group of people near the lower-left corner who seem to be looking up at the camera. Is that by chance a drone shot?
