Can someone help me out here, is there an easy way to tell if a locomotive is an Alco? They seem to have nothing to distinguish them from other makes. ;)

NOT an Alco; it's an MLW. Alco never built an FPA-4. :) /CraigMW

Will correct to MLW.

MLW was Alco's Canadian subsidiary.

To some extent, to some extent that is, ALCO and Montreal Locomotive Works are nearly the same thing; "Montreal Locomotive Works (MLW) was founded in 1902 and was owned by the American Locomotive Company (ALCo). " From cnlines.ca/CNcyclopedia/loco/mlw/
