Any photo of train orders being "hooped" up would be a winner, David, but this is even better due to your composition allowing a great view of Amqui Tower. Well done, Sir !

Great photo, captures all the elements of that era. The fading light symbolizes railroading there.

Nicely done! Thanks for sharing, great to see such scenes which were so common not really all that long ago. These days all this "personal touch" is so badly missing from the railroading scene.

Amqui was a terrific place - wish I could have spent a lot more time there. It is very sterile now, and looks like CSX has really tightened access.

Hey SSGuy, not sure I understand your comments. I think the plant at Amqui is about the same as it was in the 1970s, except for maybe the removal of minor trackage, but most of the 'fun' visual stuff is gone. The station was moved to Johnny Cash's house in about 1980, then moved back to a city park in Madison a few years ago. It is a few hundred feet south of Amqui on the east side of the line.
