I will say that is one 'wicked' looking 'beast' coming at you. The one major "flaw" (if that) that I can see is there is a problem with those new LED headlights/ditchlights. They may be illuminated, but it appears to me that in certain lighting conditions and possible movement of the train, those lights are not visible or aren't bright enough for practical and "normal" train operations. Maybe Amtrak will see this and possibly replace those LED with a twin sealed-beam, and brighter ditchlights. Just my opinion from observation.

If you were to look at the locomotive head on, or straight on, you would be able to see them all. Keep in mind that almost all of the photos are not taken head on. As long as they shine straight down the tracks, that's all that matters. You can clearly tell from this photo that the lights are slightly angled inward as well. That's why it appears that the left headlight is not lit. The right headlight is looking head on at the photographer, being that it is slightly angled inward and the train is on a curve. The ditch lights are not on for whatever reason. We can see that the number boards are LED lit even in broad daylight. I have been wondering the same as you about these new LED headlights and that is what I came up with.
