Goerg, interesting photo of a unique train. I like the history lesson too. I'm curious as to why the U.S. Army used it as: "USA 844"? *Number 844 was the last new steam locomotive delivered to the Union Pacific, and the only steam locomotive to never be retired. But I don't think that had anything to do with it.) The one thing that makes this photo just a little "weird"? The way those headlights look like eyes, it just makes the whole thing look like a robotic "beast" sticking out it's tongue! Still an interesting photo.

@ Dana: According to my research, the number had nothing to do with the famous Union Pacific steamlocomotive. The individual cars of the train contributed numbers "USA 4", "USA 44" and "USA 444" and apparently also the whole train was called USA 844. Georg

Sorry, I made an error concerning the number of the train! He was not called "USA 844" but "USA 444".
