Steve, this series of photos of the KCS are just great. I grew up in Pittsburg, Ks. where at one time you could find a large KCS shops. My father-in-law, Frank Susnik Jr., was an electrician for the KCS for 40 years and possibly worked on this GP30 at one time or another.
