A sad end for a beautiful locomotive. Even though the 487 had been retired from Amtrak service for well over a decade, it's hard to believe this one is almost non existent. Unless they scrapped any others, it is the first of the six Amtrak FL9s to have remained on the roster into the HEP era. I've got many fond memories seeing these units and riding behind them. Farewell and way to be in the right place at the right time!
