Excellent photo Warren. I'm glad someone could get a great photo of the ACR, since the future of the service is questionable.

This train's possible fate is characteristic of the precarious state of Canada's passenger trains. They barely exist, and when they do they're at the mercy of political whim and the ravages of time on outdated equipment and deteriorating track.

Thanks to the both of you for your comments. Too many people are only focused on the short term, and not how this will impact people down the road (or track if you will). All we can do is hope that something gets resolved before the deadline next month.

Nice photo. Makes me wish I was on the train. But to make a sweeping statement that Canada's passenger trains barely exist and run on deteriorating track is a little dramatic and partially incorrect. Like Amtrak, the majority of Canada's passenger trains run on well-maintained mainlines of the major freight railroads. And like Amtrak, VIA is somewhat at the mercy of small-minded politicians who would rather cut taxes for the ultra-wealthy than set aside money to help a national passenger railroad.
