Why the switch from EMD to GE? And where will the M-2's end up?

Think the biggest issue is lack of parts for the M-2s when the do break down. GE offered a deal they could not refuse. The M-2's will go back to the lease company when 8 GE demo's get here, likely April at last word. The permanent power will be 24 ES44C4's at the end of the year.

What other part of the fleet will the GEs displace? Will GP40s stay or will SD40s be bumped down to yard service?

I think just a select few of the SD40's and GP40's will continue on in local service and turns. But with 8 trains a day and 24 locomotives you can figure out whats going to happen.
