Ah, the Jordan Ditcher. Er... Spreader. In 1976 we were ditching the mainline on the Chickasha Sub on the Frisco, and had made it down about half-way to Lawton, past Cement and Cyril. We were rounding a big curve with no obstacles in sight when suddenly there was a wrenching crunching sound as of crushing metal. The Jordan heaved and twisted, its blades and hydraulics kinked, probably ruined beyond repair. What caused it? There were no poles, pipes, cables, trees, rocks... nothing. So, jumping down to the ground, I tried to pull up the dirt around the edge of the blade. It budged, but snapped back as if held together by rubber. Eventually an old timer recalled that in the 1950s there had been a wreck there, and a tank car of Elmers Glue had spilled out. Nobody was sure where it happened. Well... we found it!

It has been setting there since fall when they cut the work train off.
