Based on information acquired while a daily MARC rider during this time period, out of the several ex-Metra/BN/CB&Q E-8s that MARC acquired, # 60 was, in fact, privately owned and LEASED to MARC by the group of individuals that actually owned it.

Further research revealed info from RPN #166848 that #60 was, in fact, leased by MARC form a company called "OMNI" and that it had previously been an NJ Transit locomotive which would PROBABLY make it of either Pennsylvania or Southern origin as NJ Transit had E-8s from both those roads.

THANKS to the "NJ TRANSIT ALL TIME LOCOMOTIVE ROSTER" (available on line) the real story of MARC #60 can be told. This unit is ACTUALLY former IC / ICG #4023, built 4/51, rebuilt by ICG in 1978 and was last known to be owned by OMNI Midwest. Unit is also last reported being stored in Minerva Ohio.

So was it rebuilt with one or two prime movers? Were they 645 or 567 types?
