The GP40-2 (all the Geeps really) looked really good.....and now CSX had to mess it up for me. It even looks uglier that theSD40-3 rebuilds! Sorry CSX, Tomorrow is Moving in the wrong direction on this one. Those Imperial Biker Scout helmet look just doesn't work for me.

LOL more "SpongeBob SquareCabs." Cool. They're kind of goofy looking, yet endearing somehow.

Just be glad they haven't painted one of these as a heritage unit....ugly!

I like that design. And I bet you all commenting how hideous they are will all run after them and cll them "beauties" in 20-30 years when they are all being scrapped.

I wonder what the crews think?

Ugg-ley! I sure hope they are better for comfort than they are for looks. Must be in competition with the CF7's for ugliest engines ever.

I like them, anything is better then another boring safety cab. Mike

All I can say is, 1. Good sharp photo, 2 I don't like the "new" CSX Logo, with the square brackets.....

The next generation of "Box Cab"! LOL

The above locos are extremely ugly. So ugly, that the CF7 and BL2 are tons better than these locos. You need to be loco to design locomotives like this. I love the CF7 and the BL2 designs. CSX has really missed the mark on this design.

I like the design only because it's rare among the omnipresent widecabs. Variety is good. GEVOs and the like are the Borg. At least these units will not be assimilated.

At a quick glance, these kind of remind me of a GP30; but a closer inspection reveals an ugly cousin. Ugly, but unique nonetheless.

Much better than the ubiquitous Safety Cab! I like them a lot, good for CSX!

@Colin Dell you hit the nail on the head, lol. Back in the '90s railfans used to groan about seeing "nothing but Conrail power," in NJ, and I'd tell them not to look at it that way, since at some point in the future Conrail would be a "fallen flag." Back then, railfans used to get all excited when they saw some CSX or NS power running through on Conrail trains (especially if "on the point"). Now that Conrail is gone as an operating railroad, and successors CSX and NS ply the same main lines, railfans crow about how "great" it is to see something still in Conrail paint. The grass is always greener! I still say the same thing to any railfan who takes for granted anything they see regularly today - don't take it for granted, because some day it will be gone. Who knows what the future holds, but just assume it will look different than today!
