The RS27s had unique to them alone transistorized control circuitry. PRR had close relative U25Bs and E44s, so their RS27s were not the oddballs they were on the North Western. In lease service, these RS27s lasted quite a while and performed well, thanks to being serviced by mechanics that understood them.
