Posted by on December 31, 2013  Military tanks can not be put on 89ft flats, their weight requires shorter 6 axle flats. Posted by Frank Orona on January 1, 2014  Actually Tanks can be placed on the DODX 42XXX series of 89' flat cars built by Thrall and AMF as seen in the link here, http://www.railcarphotos.com/PhotoDetails.php?PhotoID=58896 . So, yes the 89' flat car can in fact carry tanks.
