I can see the Morrison-Knudsen rebuilders plate on it, as well as the sealed beam headlights on the door, which, along with the D&H rebuilt coach and dinette-lounge indicate it was taken in the fall of 1975 or '76 or late winter/ early spring 1976-7.

That's not the Laurentian--it's the Amtrak Adirondack, which used D&H equipment (much of it rebuilt at the expense of New York State) beginning in August 1974. The key is the diner-lounge car, which lost its D&RGW fluting below the windows during the state-sponsored rebuild. It is the second car in the train.
