You really could call these FAUX ALCO's If you look closer the radiator section has been modified and the exhaust stack is out of place. These type have been repowered with smaller higher RPM diesel engines, similar to truck engines that can be shut down in between uses.

You really could call this a REAL photo of branchlining in the coalfields of Appalachia. Great photo of something not often witnessed.

I always find the remote-control operation "phone booths" interesting. They seem to be quite common in "Coal Country."
