Actually it was not just operated by BN and ATSF. It was the Santa Fe and Denver Rio Grande joint line. With plenty of BN coal trains and a couple freights plus some UP trains to fill the gap. BN owned a little trackage on the line, but the bulk of the line was owned by either ATSF or DRGW
