Wow, I always wanted to see a train on this line. The coal isn't totally played out up there, but it became uneconomical by those days standards. The York Canyon mine was a hell of a mine, as a lot of longwall mining technology was tested and used there. Today, that Vermejo coal formation is used to supply methane in a lot of southern CO borehole wells.
