I'm really happy to see them doing something with that engine, and hoping they don't scrap it! It should be kept in Chessie paint, but I doubt it will be - if they overhaul it.

Always enjoy seeing Chessie.

With ALCO bogies no less?

The ultimate "heritage" unit. All this old girl needs is a new coat of paint and she'll be good to go; I believe the Alco trucks came from RSD 4/5 trade-ins.

WOW! Better than finding a '57 Chevy in Grannies barn? ALCO trucks from trade in RSDs, early low factory nose..... Cool.

That unit should be 'clear' coated the way it is and sent to the B&O Museum in Baltimore and stored indoors. A real classic and a great find.

Chessie will never be topped, in my opinion.

Its being sent to Washington state for a rebuild. Say goodbye to what you see, as it wont look anything like it.

Well that sucks....makes the shot even that much more special.

So long I have wanted to make a trip to where that engine was sitting, and get a shot of it in Chessie paint. Now my chances have expired.

So long "Chessie", we miss you and your nine lives are used up! *SNIFF* :'-(
