I venture to say that 74 1230 appears to have had a number of performance enhancements added to her. That a guinea pig could last into the '80's is remarkable. Imagine if D&H had kept one of its experimental 2-8-0s or if PRR had saved a T1. This, hopefully is still around to be explored, and appreciated.
