Nice all Alco road sportin some new EMD SD70ACe's Sweet!

ETTS.

Last year around this very month while driving through Monett, MO, I saw a unit train of BNSF hoppers led by late model wide-cab BNSF GMs and GEs, parked on the A & M with the head end facing eastbound on the wye entering the old Frisco yard. I'd not seen any such power on that line before and don't know if those are regular runs to the big feed mills in Barry County, MO before the Arkansas line. Now the A & M will have their OWN late model GMs...very nice. BTW, for a second the thumbnail reminded me of the "Unstoppable" locomotive.

The units look nice, but I've gotta say, I'm not a fan of the RR's new logo on the nose, nor the angular blue and yellow stripes. They should've stuck with their traditional circular logo and curved the stripes at the front. Well anyway, those are my two cents, and they don't pay the bills on that road.

May be the only shot on a Class 1 Railroad. The A&M itself is too small to be a Class 1.
|
Sad to say, one of those used to be the Catarpillar ACe.
|
Sharp paint scheme!
|
It looks like this is the end of the Alco era on the A&M.
|
One additional note of interest. These locomotives will be equipped to run as distributed power, also something we've not seen on the A & M, allowing for heavier trains without violating drawbar limits on the railroad's grades.
|
I saw the three new locomotives, 70, 71 and 72 in Monett last week. They are attractive, but I liked the smokies.
There is a Monett Turn out of Springfield six days a week to pick up traffic set out by the A&M in the BNSF Yard in Monett. Up until a few years ago there was also an Afton, OK Turn from Monett, but it was cut after the grain mill in Oklahoma started receiving unit trains.

The A&M won't have any "GMs," GM sold EMD back in 2005. These are Progress Rail/Caterpillars, not GMs.
