I'm pretty sure it was Spring 1965 when my kindergarten class took the train (I'm pretty sure it was a little Budd carset that ran then between Clovis and El Paso) from Portales to Clovis and back, stopping at the Clovis passenger terminal for lunch. Our little Budd was right next to some Santa Fe transcontinental passenger train with cars that seemed to tower above ours, plus freight switching and trains all around. It was a wonderful day, wonderful trip.

Kurt, it wouldn't have been the Budd cars; they ran between Albuquerque and El Paso. Motor cars M.160 and M.190 ran between Clovis and Carlsbad. I have a photo here on RP.net of the M.160. If you search for it you'll see what it looked like. That's probably what you rode.
