Kind of makes you wonder what a modern day electric AC4400CW would look like. Or what they might be called - maybe AC8600CWP's? Nice catch, John!

Does anyone know the origin or manufacturer of Trimount bogies? You see them here on these E-44's with likely all six axles powered. From research I saw that under ALCO PA's they were 1-A-1's. Then you see them under this Italian loco in Brazil http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=441955&nseq=14&favsearch=1 In Googling Trimount truck or bogie, a lot of info from India shows up. Just curious if there was a manufacturer, or was it a design that builders could copy.

ALCO first used the trimount trucks under their RSD series locos. GE developed a heavier version as used here and on the early U-boats. If the axles have uneven spacing, they are all powered (C). If the axles have even spacing, only the outer axles are powered (A-1-A). I have never found out what firm made them.
