Thanks Bernie! Love to read about the history of units with a lot of service. I'd like to see something like emblems of pride painted on them...like performance emblems on Navy ships. It would instill pride in our railroads and encourage some to restore them when they retire. I'm a former Northern Pacific gandy and a Burlington Northern welder and probably have an uncommon love for the railroads, but the hair still stands up on the back of my neck, and makes me draw a breath when I hear a whistle on a steam engine or a string of engines screaming to pull a heavy load over a mountain pass. Nothing like them!
