Great photo, thanks for posting it. Unusual to see Train 6, The Piedmont, with only 2 engines and without the usual intermodal cars behind the 3 or 4 passenger cars. The 1st car behind the baggage car is one of Southern's wonderful 24-seat coach/lounges built for the Royal Palm, the old Chicago-Cincinnati-Jacksonville-Miami train. The small lounge had a rounded bar with an ocean-fishing motif adorning the front of the bar. In this photo, with the vestibule on the rear of the 1st car, the lounge end is forward and the coach end is toward the rear. Also, it's unusual to see a streamlined baggage car on The Piedmont. This looks like one of Southern's old RPO/bags. Great shot. Thanks!

The two engines and lack of additional head-end equipment and intermodal being on the train is likely because this is a Sunday consist... mail would not have typically moved on Sunday.
