Not to mention a REALLY INTERESTING trip for those on board who might have APPRECIATED it. The "kids" with their "little black boxes" probably scarcely noticed.

Wow that is a rare mileage trip for the ages, can't have happened more that a half a dozen times, Amtrak could probably sell several coach loads of seats if they did that trip once a year.
