Raise a glass to the gradual passing of a model that symbolized railroading for a generation of us. Note to museums, especially the Smithsonian, that these have a special place in the history of our favorite form of transportation. Note also that, as of the date of the merger, Southern Railway was the best in the nation. Let's save a high hood.

Nothing beats an SD40/40-2,or any EMD for that matter.I ran hundreds of these engines out of Denver.Most reliable engine you can have.There are plenty of them out there for museums.I would like to see an SP and an L&N in original colors saved somewhere.
