Very nice shot Rob! Good eye capturing this action. The engineer is blowing down the boiler to get rid of the crud that a steam engines makes in the water. If not gotten rid of, this stuff called scale accumulates, attaches to the inside of the boiler and absorbs heat thus making the loco harder to steam. Watch out! Thats full boiler pressure!
